On-Site Service FAQs

What types of equipment do you troubleshoot and repair on-site?

We service a wide range of industrial automation and machine-control equipment, including VFDs/variable speed drives, soft starters, motion control systems, PLCs, and HMI systems. We also support machine-specific systems such as press brakes, steel processing equipment (slitters, coilers), saws, conveyors, and pump systems.

What issues are best suited for on-site service vs. send-in repair?

On-Site field service is best when the problem is unknown, when you’re not sure which component should be removed and shipped, or when equipment can’t be shipped due to size or installation constraints. It’s also a good fit when your team doesn’t have the ability or resources to safely disconnect equipment for send-in repair. Common on-site use cases include diagnostics and troubleshooting, small component replacements (e.g., contactors), and commissioning/startup support for new or upgraded equipment.

How does dispatch work, and what information do you need to start?

To initiate service, you can submit our request form or call our dedicated service line at 248-336-4500. To speed up dispatch, we’ll ask for basic details such as the equipment type, symptoms/fault codes, site location, and any operational constraints (e.g., shutdown windows, access requirements).

What areas do you cover for on-site repair?

Our primary on-site coverage includes Southwest Michigan, as well as broader service across Michigan, Ohio, and Eastern Indiana. We can travel beyond this area when needed, provided travel costs are covered.

What should we have ready before your technician arrives?

To ensure an efficient visit, please have machine prints/drawings, manuals, and (when possible) an operator or technician available to run the equipment for testing. If you have them, share fault codes, a description of symptoms, any recent changes (electrical, mechanical, programming, or process), access requirements, and a safe shutdown window when you submit the request.

What safety requirements do you expect at the facility?

Site safety requirements are dictated by your facility. Please inform us of any required PPE, safety training, escort policies, permits, or other site-specific expectations in advance so our technician arrives prepared.

How is on-site service priced (standard/overtime/double-time/mileage)?

  • Standard: $189/Hour
  • Overtime: $283.50/Hour
  • Double-time: $378/Hour
  • Mileage: $0.90/Mile

Do you provide a service report or documentation after the visit?

Yes. We provide a work order summary documenting the visit and findings. In most cases, it’s sent with the invoice unless an immediate copy is requested. Some technicians also provide paperwork orders onsite upon completion. If the issue isn’t resolved on the first visit, we’ll document next steps and follow up with a plan and/or quote as needed.
